Course Co-Teaching Experience

  • During the Summer of 2013, I assisted Dr. Lisa Heaton co-teach CIEC 534 Applications Software in the Classroom Curriculum.

  • The course was provided for Transition to Teaching students.

  • I was responsible for facilitating two modules: Copyright/Multimedia and Media Literacy.

  • This experience permitted me to gain insight into how online courses are taught and allowed me to gain experience with the BlackBoard grading center, particularly working with rubrics.

  • The experience also enlightened me to differences and similarities between college students and public school students in terms of personal responsibility and work quality.

Course Co-development

  • During the Spring 2014 semester, a portion of the doctoral cohort group co-developed a distance education professional development course for Dr. Lisa Heaton's CIEC 715 Online Course Development and Delivery class.

  • It was a great experience that taught me about collaborating and online teaching and learning.

  • This experience was meaningful to me since I am a K-12 public educator and my colleagues and their students will benefit from modules we developed.

  • The professional development course titled CIEC 561 Wired for Learning will be offered during Summer 2014 and again in Spring 2015.

Course Collaboration

  • One of the major strengths of being a member of doctoral cohort program is the relationship building that occurs throughout the process.

  • We have grown academically during the past three years and have become friends as well as a cohort. The coursework has offered many opportunities for collaboration. The following documents and presentations represent key experiences that demonstrate true collaborative effort.
